Russian arms maker Kalashnikov unveiled a prototype of an electric car, at Moscow’s Patriot Park on Thursday.

According to Kalashnikov, the retro look of the pale blue prototype, dubbed the CV-1, was inspired by a rare 1970s model, the “Izh-Kombi”.

The company said it had developed cutting-edge elements for its “electric supercar,” including a “revolutionary” inverter. The vehicle can travel 350 kilometres (217 miles) on a single charge.

Kalashnikov expects that due to the technology the CV-1 will compete with Elon Musk’s Tesla.

The ‘Army 2018′ International Military-Technical Forum opened on Tuesday and will run until August 26.

It displays 26,000 items of state-of-the-art Russian and international arms from over 1,200 businesses and arms manufacturers.
