Repairing Pot Metal Pits on Classic Cars

Pitted pot metal or zinc die cast parts are very prevalent when it comes to this white metal. Pot Metal has been described as unrepairable or impossible to fix, however, at MuggyWeld.com we are demonstrating how to fill pits in pot metal using Super Alloy 1 solder and a propane torch.

First, we cleaned the area to be repaired, then used a Dremel to dig out the pot metal oxidation. With a propane torch, we added flux and filled the freshly cut parent metal.
