Here’s our tutorial to create a Rocket Powered Skateboard Racing game in Little Big Planet 3.
Having all these ways for children to make new worlds and games is all well and good but how does it work in practice.
I spent 2 hours with my family and LittleBigPlanet 3. The boys set me the task of creating a game where they could race skateboards off a big jump.
As you can see in the tutorial here, it’s not as hard as you might think. It does take some planning and experimentation — and time watching the tutorials — but before long I had the idea up and running.
Making the game in LittleBigPlanet 3 had the added benefit of inheriting the world’s real-time physics. This means that my rocket powered skateboard moves like it would in real life without me needing to worry about the complicated maths involved.
Having made my game, the boys spent a good hour or so playing around with it. Since then they’ve started adding enemies, obstacles and time-limits to my original creation. Once it’s complete we can share it with friends online.
