The key to removing the timer is the gold cap. Once you have this off the key components to removing the rest will be right in front of you. Save your money and keep that old washer going. These old washers are made so much better than the new models. Your grandparents probably still have their 30 year old lady Kenmore going. Even a standard washer from the last 15 years is an easy fix, short of an expensive transmission.
