This is a tutorial for changing the manual transmission fluid and differential fluid on a 2006 G35 sedan. The same procedure will apply for any of the V35 generation (2002-2006) sedans and coupes. Not sure how the procedure differs for the G35x (AWD), if you are familiar with this please add a comment below. I imagine the process is also nearly identical for the 350z.
Tools & materials needed:
1) Jack and 4 jack stands
2) Oil catch pan
3) 10mm hex bit (3/8″ drive socket adapter)
4) 3/8″ drive breaker bar or ratchet
5) 3/8″ drive torque wrench
6) 1 gallon MTF (GL-4)
7) 2 qts gear oil (GL-5)
8) small transfer pump
9) 4x crush washers (Nissan P/N 11026-4N200)
10) PPE
MTF change (starts at 3:26)
1) Gather tools
2a) Jack front of vehicle
2b) Lower front onto jack stands
3a) Jack rear of vehicle
3b) Lower rear onto jack stands
4) Remove MTF fill plug
5) Remove drain plug
6) Reinstall drain plug w/ new washer (25 ft-lbs)
7a) Prime transfer pump
7b) Add MTF
8) Reinstall fill plug w/ new washer (25 ft-lbs)
Differential fluid change (starts at 10:52)
1) Remove fill plug
2) Remove drain plug
3) Reinstall drain plug w/ new washer (25 ft-lbs)
4) Add diff fluid (~1.7 qts)
5) Reinstall fill plug w/ new washer (25 ft-lbs)
The process is very simple for both the transmission and differential. If you can change your own oil, you can definitely do this. Hope this helps, happy wrenching!
