Since hangers are designed to convert an axial force to a more oblique/shearing force, they aren’t ideal for removing a bolt. Usually the bolt bends or the head breaks off before the bolt slips. Using these forged eyebolts/nuts you can pull straight out, in-line with the bolt. It’s much more efficient, and even if it doesn’t work you will still have pristine threads on the bolt for other methods of extraction (funking with a hanger always mashes them.)
In this case the sleeves on these previously placed 5-piece bolts came out very easily. Next I will try this technique on some 11-year old bolts that remain on Apple Strudel.
