It’s not exactly often that a company comes along and literally redefines an industry. Those familiar with Patriot Ordnance Factory — or POF — know that is just what they did when it comes to the world of gas piston systems. “We’re one of the few manufacturers that can honestly say we pioneered the piston system in the industry. We didn’t invent it…we did kind of put a lot of horsepower behind it and now you can see it’s a pretty prevalent thing.” POF continues to push the envelope — this time with the introduction of “E-squared” Technology. “E2 Technology — now what that stands for is extraction plus extraction…so its extraction times two. Now the other thing is the chamber actually looks like a square inside the neck….your cartridge gets loaded, primer causes spark, powder burns, gas expands, projectile is launched…it gets to spinning in the rifle. All of that back pressure is now inflating that brass like a balloon because brass is very malleable. As it is expanding it’s swaging itself inside the chamber and in order to get it out…the extractor has to rip it out. So what we’ve done is cut some canals…just around the neck, so the brass is 100% re-loadable, it doesn’t deform the brass, and redirect that pressure from only interior to around some of the exterior. So it equalizes the pressure and helps..the brass breaks the seal and it floats out.” “E-squared” technology is changing the game. Incorporated into POF’s Gen-4 Rifles and you’re seeing state-of-the-art technology meet high level innovation. “We’ve got our Gen4 lower as we’re calling it — and as you can see this is a rounded mag-well around it. It’s got the scallops, forefinger straight off the trigger…ambidextrous bolt lock back so now you can do everything with your firing finger. So the interesting thing now…that sets the shooter up for success and makes them a lot more versatile. When shooting, if your mag locks your bolt back, you can now dump your mag, send your bolt forward, lock your bolt back if you want to, and index the trigger all within a few inch workspace — so it really helps you be more efficient on the weapon system. Other things we have going on — is we’ve got an enhanced bolt catch, so as opposed to that small protrusion you used to have to push to lock the bolt back, you’ve got a nice knurled pad. It’s got an integral mag release…more ergonomic design around the grip so it doesn’t chew up your fingers. And then inside, we’ve got our polymer set screws for adjusting any kind of tolerance or tension.” POF’s story is one of American achievement — hard work and innovation. Add it all up and the end-user gets to reap the benefits. “We like to think of ourselves as innovators, not imitators. So we really like to come out with new things that set us apart and just building quality products.”
This is an example of hip fracture surgery, where cannulated screws can be used to fix the femoral neck fracture (also commonly known as hip pinning). This is a minimally invasive way of fixing this surgical problem.
