FYH ORIGINAL SET SCREW
Time lapse of 3D printed “BIG Nut And Bolt”. Time lapse taken from my Octoprint server attached to my Printrbot Simple Makers 1405 using the standard Raspberry Pi camera and a wide angle clip on lens.
A very cool print to make and great to show off to people. Very satisfying to spin the nut on and off! Had to screw it on and off a couple of times to loosen up the thread so it was smooth – could also put some silicone sealant on it to make it even more smooth, but it doesn’t need it.
Scaled it down to about 60% for it to fit into my printer upright. Would love to print this full size or bigger as a great novelty item and showcase as to what can be 3D printed.
An oddity of the design from an engineers point of view if this was a functional piece is that the nut has a different size hex to the bolt head, so you would need two different spanners to fasten this nut and bolt, or a pair of adjustable one?!
