First cut happened today!!! Need to make a few adjustments. Like the z height was a little shallow. I didn’t have the T-Slots or Vacuum Pods hooked up yet, didn’t have time. The pinewood derby is next week. My 9 year old drew this up in Inventor and I walked him through the CAM process. I will have a little machinist soon. For the base, I picked up from my local steel supplier:
20ft of 4″x12″ Rectangular tubing 0.188″ thick

and since they had no aluminum I ordered some from onlinemetals.com for the gantry and Z axis, I didn’t want to make the 4 hour round trip so I had them ship it.

I figured that would be enough to get the rails on, I like to stick with metric when I deal with the rails since they are in metric, and I think it is actually cheaper to buy metric… I dunno, just me
