Hi folks, I’m Matt and I work in the Tech Department at DR Power Equipment. Today we’re going to look at the DR Power Grader and how to properly maintain the machine so it gives you years and years of continuous service.

Any time your machine is not in use, be sure to disconnect either your battery wires or your 4-pin connector. If you leave these connected, your transmitter and receiver will continue to communicate with each other and this will slowly drain your battery.

During the off season, you want to charge the battery once a month for 12 hours so the battery stays fully charged. All you do is disconnect the wires that are attached to the battery, then attach the red wire to the positive terminal and plug the black wire from the battery charger to the terminal.
Then you take the charging unit and plug it in to the wall and leave it plugged in for 12 hours.

Now the battery’s charged, lets take a look at the 4 pin connector. Every few months, you want to take apart the 4 pin connector and you want to apply dielectric grease to the point in here to prevent corrosion from happening. We also recommend that you wear gloves when you’re doing this application. Dielectric grease comes in our maintenance kits and it can be purchased at any local hardware store.
We apply dielectric grease to the 4 pin connector for two reasons. You get a good solid connection from both halves and it also prevents moisture and corrosion from happening inside the plug.

Your primary focus with maintenance is the battery on the Power Grader but you also need to grease the wheel bearings with a grease gun every 25 hours. There are 6 grease fittings on the power grader. One on each of the back wheels and two on each of the front wheels. We recommend that you put two pumps of grease in to each grease fitting.

Over a period of time your Power Grader is going to get dirty. You can hose it down but please stay away from the battery and the actuator.

The Power Grader comes with a shear bolt in the tow bar assembly. This shear bolt is made to break when the machine comes in contact with an object that’s too big to move. The shear bolt will break so the rest of the machine does not get damaged. It is always a good idea to have extra shear bolts on hand in case one breaks during operation. Be sure to only use shear bolts provided by DR Power so you know you are using the correct ones designed and tested for your machine.
